Question

Trouble setting Jitsi Server Droplet

I set up my Jitsi server as the ‘Get Started’ manual instructs. However, when I test a meeting, the video camera and microphone icons are never enabled. There has been a loading image over there for almost 15 minutes. How can I improve or modify it to make these two buttons work?

I’m using the following hardware: Machine type: Basic CPU type: Premium Intel vCPUs: 2 Memory: 2GB SSD: 901GB Transfer: 3TB

Thanks in advance

Hi there,

Did you also associate your Droplet with a Domain name?

Keep in mind that before accessing the # Jitsi Droplet, you have to add a domain to your project. This is required because most browsers require HTTPS in order to allow you to use the camera and microphone in a website, and it’s not possible to enable HTTPS just with an IP.

Here’s an excellent guide to do that: https://www.digitalocean.com/docs/networking/dns/how-to/add-domains/.

It is mandatory to add an A record (i.e. jitsi-example.digitalocean.com) pointing to the IP associated with your Droplet.

Let me know how it goes!

Best,

Bobby
