Question

Ubuntu 14.04 LTS availability

  • Posted March 22, 2014

With this new LTS version coming out in a few weeks, is there a rough ETA on how long it takes to add that to the install templates for a new droplet?

Official release happened today, and I see 14.04 in the Create Droplet page. Sweet!

We’re aiming to have Ubuntu 14.04 available soon after its stable release.

Well that would be very cool.

the day after…and apparently you cannot edit your comments here :(

Apparently they had 13.10 the after its official release: https://twitter.com/digitalocean/status/391316426574663680

I’m guessing it isn’t particularly straightforward as DO will need to clone all the repos and build their own images, would be nice to hear even a rough estimate though.

I’m in the same situation. I need to start an LTS droplet for a customer but if I new 14.04 would hit the templates pretty fast I would rather wait.

Anyone know how long it took to add previous versions? We are keen to start a LTS droplet but would rather start with 14.04 than having to upgrade a 12.04 in a couple of weeks.
