Due to security reason i need to upgrade to Apache HTTP Server 2.4.52 https://httpd.apache.org/security/vulnerabilities_24.html
in the past i have installed the Ubuntu LAMP on 16.04 from DigitalOcean
however doing ‘sudo apt upgrade’ i have
apache2 is already the newest version (2.4.18-2ubuntu3.17).
what to do? i used the DigitalOcean LAMP as i wanted to get rid of update issues, but this backfired

One way to proceed would be to upgrade your Ubuntu version to a newer one, that way you would get be able to upgrade your Apache instance to a newer one with apt upgrade.

Make sure to always take a backup of your server before proceeding with such major upgrades.
Alternatively, if you want to have a very specific version of Apache installed, you could compile Apache from source. The downside of this is that for every upgrade you would need to always do this manually and compile the instance from source.

The last time I upgraded in 2017, it messed up the server. I’ll take my chances.
