Question

WARNING: Port 90 & 443 of computer does not appear to be accessible using hostname

Hello, I am using a domain provider which is connected to Cloudflare. The name servers are currently directed to Cloudflare. Do I need ot change them to DigitalOcean instead for a Discorse install to work? I have the DigitalOcean Droplet setup with an ip etc but when I go to install I get the port errors problem as below:

At the moment it get the error:

WARNING: Port 443 of computer does not appear to be accessible using hostname: forums.XXXXXXXXXXXX.com. WARNING: Connection to http://forums.XXXXXXXXXXXX.com (port 80) also fails.

I have tried changing setting within Cloudflare but still cannot get it to work and my mail server is working with Cloudflare subdomain already.

Many thanks

Hey @inspectorgrow,

You can point your Domain to your Droplet from your Cloudflare’s account, that’s alright. Basically, add the A record of your Domain to be your Droplet’s IP address

As for the installation of Discourse, can you let me know if you allowed your ports on your Firewall, did you create a configuration file for your app as well?

If you are uncertain, I’ll recommend you to check the following Tutorial on how you can configure Discource without any problems:

Thanks for your replies.

I used up disconnecting Cloudflare and it was working but I couldn’t get NGNIX installed but might of been able to now as isn’t that required for SSL?

I do ideally want to use Cloudflare so if I start again and use Cloudflare for the whole site is that possible? The name servers are currently back with my hosting provider to get it working but if I switch to Cloudflare do I need to change the NS to yours in my hosting provider or add NS entries in Cloudflare?

thanks
