This is my first attempt at using BIND DNS and Virtualmin. I have only ever set this up via CPanel.
I want to be able to manage DNS zones for a domain via Virtualmin.
I have pointed (via siteground) my URL at ns1(and ns2 and ns3).digitalocean.com
My URL, edcresearch.com, resolves to my droplet IP address.
Now, I want to be able to set up subdomains and things from Virtualmin. I added A record *.edcresearch.com to my droplet IP via Digital Ocean > Networking.
For testing purposes, I made test.edcresearch.com and pointed it at another Droplet. There is a master zone edcresearch.com on my webmin UI.
I get no host found via all the internet ping tool. I am assuming that I am doing something wrong.
Can anybody point me in the right direction?

Hi,
Virtualmin, and other panels like Plesk or cPanel, will configure DNS on the server its installed onto, eg your Droplet. These packages will not work as DigitalOcean DNS configurators - that’s what the DO Cloud panel is for. To use virtualmin or cpanel would mean delegating your domain to your droplet and that is not a typical use case these days. (Don’t do this).
If you go back to the DigitalOcean > Networking panel, you’ll see you can manage all of your DNS records from there - pointing them at Droplets or anything else with an IP address.
Hope this helps and please let us know if you need any further assistance - good luck!
