What Are My Email Options?

Question

Hi,

I have just joined Digital Ocean. I am used to coming from a hosting company that provided you with cPanel, which came with Email setup.

I understand that Digital Ocean does not provide an email service, as they only host your web / app files.

What options could i look into for running Email?

DigitalOcean offers Linux VPSes. Any mail server that runs on Linux runs on DigitalOcean.

Sorry for a silly question, i’m completely new to this… i have created a Wordpress droplet, running a $10 per month account… so can i avail of email through this?

Yes, it’s a Linux VPS running a webserver with Wordpress. It can run anything that runs on Linux.

You should not host mail yourself. You should use an external service, or use an application such as iRedMail.

Dont use them myself but zoho has a free email plan.

This would avoid the hassle of running your own mail server.

Instead of hosting your own email, I would recommend using either Zoho mail or Google Apps. Zoho is free.
