Question

White Screen After Following Tutorial for Self-Hosting Metabase on DigitalOcean

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to self-host Metabase on DigitalOcean and have followed this tutorial: How To Install Metabase on Ubuntu 20.04 with Docker.

However, after completing all the steps, I’m only getting a white screen, as shown in the screenshot below.

Has anyone else encountered this issue or knows how to resolve it?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi there,

It usually can take some time for Metabase to start, how long did you wait before seeing that whitescreen?

Also, what you could od is check your Docker logs to see if there were any errors during the boot process:

docker logs <metabase_container_id>

Also, Metabase requires at least 1 GB of RAM, so if you are using a smaller Droplet it will not work.

An alternative option here is to also give the Marketplace image a try:

https://marketplace.digitalocean.com/apps/metabase

Let me know how it goes!
