Question

Wordpress /wp-admin won't allow me to login after setup

I created a droplet with one-click install Wordpress.

Worked like a charm, logging into server with ssh client, no problem. Says admin password to Wordpress at first login.

Opening my site in browser, logging into setup with admin and password. Works without a problem. Creates user. Tries to login with new user. Won’t let me. Incorrect user or password. No, it’s not.

Re-done the entire install and get the same issue every time. Just can’t access dashboard.

if the wp admin login problem is occurring after migration (importing backup file) , enter the user name and password set for the wordpress file which you have imported.

password is wrong? no its not! This 1 click block and wordpress setup is broken! 20 years experience, I have never seen anything like it. multiple installs, differant passwords, differant computers. same result. Password is incorrect, Email does not work to send password as email is not setup.

Still not fixed? Not a Noob here! This issue still persists, 1 click install. 10 hours later, destroying, creating blocks for joke. This service does not work! im doing the one click server setup with wordpress. Why can I not log in to wordpress admin? I dont choose lets encrypt as I use cloudflare. dont know what else to say but try another company else where! waste of my time… :( Also changed wordpress admin password via command line which also did not work. Error saying password is incorrect.

Hello,

If you want to reset the WordPress admin dashboard password than you can easily recover it by accessing the admin area login page and click the “Lost your password?” link. You can then enter either your Username or Email Address to receive the new password.

The other option is the reset the password from the WordPress database directly. You can check the following mini tutorial on how to do this here:

https://www.digitalocean.com/community/questions/reseting-wordpress-admin-password-via-the-command-line-terminal

Hope that this helps Regards, Alex

i have come across a similar situation, i am not able to login by the password i had set. it started showing issues, two days ago but i was able to log in after a few attempts, today i am not able to.

Can anybody help resetting the password from outside? please share the step b step procedure. Thanks

same here. so nobody could ever solve this?

Any answer to this, exact same thing happening to me.

And it’s the same with /login /admin or /wp-admin.

After the first login I never get the graphical login again, just the popup. Which doesn’t work.

And I’ve tried multiple computers, multiple browsers, multiple networks…

I have no idea what to do…except start using Ghost instead…

Just to make it clear.

I have two users, original ‘admin’ and one with my own ‘name’. BOTH have admin rights.

I’ve also tried adding new users, changing users, changing password through WP-cli.

I’ve followed every guide. I’ve reinstalled both Wordpress and tge entire server multiple times.

I’ve figured out when it happens.

First time I start, login first time with a computer or tablet I get a login page, graphics with Wordpress logo. I CAN login here. With both admin and user.

Second time I visit site I do mot get this graphics. I get a popup and this does not work. Says incorrect password.

If I reinstall Wordpress or just reset it. I can login again, once! Then never again.

Any idea?

@crae Yes, you are right. But you did not read my whole post. Users can’t access the ADMIN PANEL, ONLY IF YOU GIVE THEM THE PERMISSIONS (or your WordPress is configured to give Admin access to new Users) At the moment I am not home, but I would create a Tutorial for you how to install WordPress right. OK?
