Question

301 Apache Redirect folder to main website without subfolder

Hey forum

I’m trying to achieve something that’s been bugging me for the last 2 days. I need to do a redirect when someone access a specific folder of my website but not redirect if a subfolder of that folder is accessed.

Basically, an example is:

If someone loads https://domain.com/folder I want to redirect it to https://domain.com however if someone access http://domain.com/folder/subfolder I don’t want any redirect to happen and the page to load.

Hi @brendros,

I would use RedirectMatch. This directive is equivalent to Redirect, but makes use of regular expressions, instead of simple prefix matching. The supplied regular expression is matched against the URL-path, and if it matches, the server will substitute any parenthesized matches into the given string and use it as a filename.

RedirectMatch 302 ^/folder/$ https://domain.com/

That should do the trick.
