A DNS Query - Two Sets? - Confused

Posted on April 20, 2015

I’m hoping to get some clarification on how the DNS panel works here.

So I have a domain registered and in it’s DNS settings, I’ve added the NS, A, MX and other records.

My question is, why do I have this option to do it in the DO panel? What’s the difference from adding them to the DO panel, to adding them to my registers panel? Does the DO one overwrite it?

Just a bit confusing.

Yes, that’s basically it. DigitalOcean handles your DNS records for you. Once you point your domain to DO’s nameservers from your registrar, you can take advantage of DO’s DNS panel for free. It’s basically what you do at your registrar, but it simplifies the process I guess. One less panel you need to frequently access :)
