After pointing the nameserver to digitalocean and creating "A" record, what are the step required for hosting my content?

Posted on March 10, 2015

I have pointed the nameserver to digital ocean, and created “A” record. I am able to ping my site from root account but not from outside. Also, when I ping from outside, this is pointing to other IP address. Am I missing any step?

I have not filled the hostname and IP address field at godaddy except the nameserver. Also, “A” record is pointing to public IP of my droplet.

When I type my domain name on the browser, it is pointing to some othersite.

Any help, pointer in this regard will be helpful.

Pointing NS records to DigitalOcean is to move your DNS queries to DO. So you’ll need to set your A records using the DNS settings on the DO Control Panel (https://cloud.digitalocean.com/domains). Or just keep the NameServers at godaddy (it’s quite fast) and just point the A record to your droplet.
