I have a cron job running my nodeJS script every hour on a DigitalOcean droplet. Is there any way to set up some kind of alarming if script throws an exception? Alerting in DigitalOcean is only limited by metrics coming from hardware, looks like I need custom metrics that I could trigger from my NodeJS script, or some way to alert based on logs

Bugsnag is one place where you can log exceptions like this. They have a free plan as well. So essentially it catches and logs exceptions on their platform and alerts you via email when an exception happens. Or you can catch exceptions yourself and use the nodemailer module to alert yourself via email.
