Question

Can me and my partner share an account?

I know teams exist, however, we cannot use a team as we have to pay through PayPal (and teams can only be paid with a credit card). Me and my business partner want to share an account (so I’ll login through their username and password).

I don’t want to risk the account being deleted or suspended for suspicious activity (due to multiple logins from different locations, or for breaking the TOS by sharing an account). I also have my own personal account, and I don’t want that suspended either (for instance, due to multiple accounts on the same IP).

Is sharing 1 account between 2 people allowed? We’ll be logging in through an email and password. Can I expect the account to get suspended or should I be fine? Thanks

Hi @beak, it’s still possible for you to use PayPal with a Team if its your first account, but you’ll need to convert it to a team in order to do that. Not sure if it would be feasible for you to convert that personal one and then to create a new team account for your own personal usage but that would be my recommendation for security purposes and so that you could maintain greater audit control.

That said, it is certainly possible for you use shared credentials for the same user to access a new account (with access to PayPal) if that is preferable. Our risk model factors in a multitude of signals to determine whether or not to suspend accounts so its hard to say if this would increase the likelihood of getting flagged. One other thing to keep in mind, is that we verify devices when logging into the platform, so both of you will need to have access to the emails or 2fa codes that get sent when authenticating to DO.
