I have set up the droplet for about 7 months now and all worked well until today, when I found out that I could neither connect to my droplet via ssh, nor via the console from my digital ocean account. I tried to ping my IP and it seems not to work at all.

I would suggest you snapshot the current droplet and then create a new droplet with that snapshot.
Thanks man for your instant answer. I just created a snapshot and add a new droplet using this snapshot as you suggested and I updated the DNS Records to point to the new droplet’s IP. It seems to work fine now. Greetings
