Question

can we set main domain to another droplet the subdomain to loadbalancer?

i have main domain which is i want just point to single droplet (it will be like simple site) then put the subdomain to load balancer…is it possible? because when i create let’s encrypt for SSL on load balancer it should put the main domain? thank you so much before!

Yes, this should be doable. You could add your subdomain name as a separate domain to your DigitalOcean account directly.

Then that way it will show up in your domains list when you try to specify it as a custom domain for your Load Balancer.

Then in your main domain’s DNS zone, you will have to add the DigitalOcean nameservers as NS records for your subdomain in the DNS Manager for your main domain.

For Example: In DNS Manager for main add NS records Like.

some_sub_domain.example.com. 1799 IN    NS  ns1.digitalocean.com.
some_sub_domain.example.com. 1799 IN    NS  ns3.digitalocean.com.
some_sub_domain.example.com. 1799 IN    NS  ns2.digitalocean.com.

That way you will be able to manage the DNS for the subdomain in a separate DNS zone than your main domain name and it would be independent.
