Changed username root, cannot connect via SSH anymore

Posted on March 12, 2016

Hi serverpeople :)

I did the stupidest thing ever, i changed my passwd file unconsciously and changed my root username. Now it looks like this:

]root:x:0:0:root:/root:/bin/bash

Is there anyway to recover the root user? SSH’ing gives an permission denied right now.

The OS that im running: Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS (GNU/Linux 3.13.0-57-generic x86_64) (LAMPP)

Thanks!

Tom
