Hey there 👋
Easiler than that would be to spin up a Droplet on DigitalOcean instead:
https://docs.digitalocean.com/products/droplets/how-to/create/
If you really need to use VirtualBox locally on your laptop then, follow these quick steps:
Download Ubuntu Server 20.04 ISO
Head to the official Ubuntu site:
👉 https://releases.ubuntu.com/20.04/
Grab the ubuntu-20.04.6-live-server-amd64.iso
file.
Install VirtualBox If you don’t already have it, install VirtualBox from: 👉 https://www.virtualbox.org/
Create a New VM in VirtualBox
Open VirtualBox, click “New”
Name it (e.g., UbuntuServer20.04
)
Type: Linux
Version: Ubuntu (64-bit)
Assign at least 1–2 GB RAM, 10+ GB storage
Go to “Storage”
Under “Controller: IDE”, click the empty disk icon
Click “Choose a disk file” and select the ISO you downloaded
