Hey there 👋

Easiler than that would be to spin up a Droplet on DigitalOcean instead:

If you really need to use VirtualBox locally on your laptop then, follow these quick steps:

  1. Download Ubuntu Server 20.04 ISO Head to the official Ubuntu site: 👉 https://releases.ubuntu.com/20.04/ Grab the ubuntu-20.04.6-live-server-amd64.iso file.

  2. Install VirtualBox If you don’t already have it, install VirtualBox from: 👉 https://www.virtualbox.org/

  3. Create a New VM in VirtualBox

  • Open VirtualBox, click “New”

  • Name it (e.g., UbuntuServer20.04)

  • Type: Linux

  • Version: Ubuntu (64-bit)

  • Assign at least 1–2 GB RAM, 10+ GB storage

  1. Mount the ISO In the VM settings:
  • Go to “Storage”

  • Under “Controller: IDE”, click the empty disk icon

  • Click “Choose a disk file” and select the ISO you downloaded

  1. Start the VM and Install Ubuntu Start the VM, follow the Ubuntu Server installer steps, and you’re good to go.
