I have not had luck in this regard, of how to connect to the database of my installation.
when entering the command “$ mysqla -root -p”, the following message appears “–skip-external-locking”
I hope you can help me

Hi, it sounds like your moodle installation is working OK and you want to connect to the database separately.

If so, I see an error in your pasted command line, it should look more like this:

mysql -uroot -p

mysql is the name of the mysql client, -u is followed by the username root and then -p will prompt you for a password after hitting enter.

Hope this helps and please let us know if we can assist further

  • I did indeed put the syntax wrong.
    the correct one is the one you indicate, but I still have the same problem, same message.
    I don’t know how to attach a photo so you can see my problem

    • Hmmm, I’m not sure why you would see the text –skip-external-locking after logging in… this is what it should look like:

      $ mysql -uroot -p
      Enter password:

      Then you can start sending commands and queries to the database via the mysql commandline.

      Is it possible to paste all of the text from your terminal in here, kind of like above? Make sure to remove any passwords or other sensitive data! :)
