So was testing out some things on my droplet, and sshd_config still shows port 22 listed, I’ve even flushed all iptables rules (effectively disabling the firewall) ufw is not enabled either but still can’t establish a connection either via SSH or telnet.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

You should be able to log into your droplet via the console (under Access in the control panel) in order to check your services and review your logs for an indication of why you’re not able to reach it. If you’re using an ssh-key and don’t have a user with a password set, our support team can boot your droplet to a recovery environment where you can mount your disk image and investigate.
