Coreos cluster warning "WARNING: fleetctl (0.9.1) is older than the latest registered version of fleet found in the cluster (0.9.2)"

Getting the following warning:
“WARNING: fleetctl (0.9.1) is older than the latest registered
version of fleet found in the cluster (0.9.2)”

Not sure why this error message would suddenly start coming up for me. I imagine this has something to do with how coreos rolls out upgrades? I thought that was just for patch level stuff? If that’s what happened why is one of the nodes in the cluster ahead/behind the rest?

Have you tried updating?

  • I haven’t tried updating fleetctl, but it seems like it has updated itself on one of the nodes in my cluster automatically! I can update the others manually, that is trivial, but that is not very useful for me going forward in terms of knowing what happened and what is expected of me for these kinds of updates.. Next time there is a fleetctl update will it update automatically or not?

I chose coreos because of it working nicely with docker and that it also rolls patch level updates automatically. If part of the rolling updates is to update coreos’s other dependencies like fleet that is no problem. I’m just wondering why it would update one and not the rest?
