What is the reason for this report?

Debian ask me to change the password again and again.

Posted on March 22, 2016

Few days ago I can’t login to the server. I decided to reset the password. After this, I can log in but immediately receive the message to change the password. http://i.imgur.com/zcPSQKL.png After this, the connection is closed automatically. When I try to do this again I get the same result. I checked passwords very carefully.

Can you help?

When the root password is reset, the system requires you to change the password on first login. It does this with the passwd utility.

You need to pay close attention to the instructions, it will ask you for the current password first, not the new password.

You need to enter the current password twice. Once to log into the box, and once for the passwd utility. It will then ask you for the new password.
