Dedicated cpu and disk options

Posted on April 5, 2022

Hello,

I’m interested in a dedicated cpu droplet, but I have a question about the disk options. Let’s take for example the General Purpose 8GB, 2cpu, 25GB droplet. In the disk options, I can select 1x ssd or 2x ssd. If I choose 2x ssd will I get 1 ssd of 50GB or 2 ssd of 25GB each with different mount point?

Thank you

Hi @Vaielab,

If you choose a 2x SSD for your Dedicated CPU Droplet, you’ll get one mount point of 50G. I just created a droplet here is how it looks:

  1. Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
  2. udev 3.9G 0 3.9G 0% /dev
  3. tmpfs 796M 968K 795M 1% /run
  4. /dev/vda1 49G 1.5G 47G 4% /
  5. tmpfs 3.9G 0 3.9G 0% /dev/shm
  6. tmpfs 5.0M 0 5.0M 0% /run/lock
  7. tmpfs 3.9G 0 3.9G 0% /sys/fs/cgroup
  8. /dev/loop0 62M 62M 0 100% /snap/core20/1328
  9. /dev/vda15 105M 5.2M 100M 5% /boot/efi
  10. /dev/loop1 68M 68M 0 100% /snap/lxd/21835
  11. /dev/loop2 44M 44M 0 100% /snap/snapd/14549
  12. tmpfs 796M 0 796M 0% /run/user/0

Hi,

Can someone explain or point me to what the difference is? Why do both these options exist if they are the same at the end of the day, and what are the advantages/disadvantages of choosing x1 vs x2.

Thank You.
