/dev/eth0 has NO-CARRIER on droplet

Posted on March 28, 2018

root@myserver:~# ip addr 2: eth0: <NO-CARRIER,BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP> mtu 1500 qdisc pfifo_fast state DOWN

This looks like the parent hypervisor on my droplet has my eth0 interface disconnected.

I cannot ping my gateway from my droplet. I cannot ping anything in my droplet’s subnet.

I can ping my droplet’s gateway from my home PC, so the gateway is up.

How do I get my NO-CARRIER flag to go away and regain network connectivity?

Same problem - Out of the blue droplet loses network connection. etho0 No-carrier.

Hello

If the eth0 interface is DOWN, the command to bring it UP would look like this:

  1. sudo ifup eth0

You can check our article on how to check your network configuration:

Hope that this helps!
