Hi there,
DigitalOcean primarily uses KVM as its hypervisor for virtualization. KVM is a part of the Linux kernel and allows the host machine to run multiple, isolated virtual environments, known as droplets in DigitalOcean’s terminology. Each Droplet behaves like a standalone server with its resources:
The App Platform on the other side, abstracts the underlying infrastructure, allowing developers to deploy code directly without managing the underlying servers. And under the hood DigitalOcean App Platform utilizes Kubernetes:
