Hi,
We are exploring moving to DigitalOcean. We are using AWS for our hybrid SaaS that provides complete regression testing for our customers products in 24 hours on all combinations of Web/OS/Mobile. ( if interested please e-mail me directly)
In AWS we use the following capabilities

Thanks for your question. Since I am a DO employee, I’ll leave recommendations for our users to provide but I can provide a bit of clarification on the services we provide.
CentOS based server with tomcat
We offer CentOS as one of our OS options. Our one-click images (including tomcat) are based on Ubuntu but we also offer a user-data (cloud-init) script that can be used on the create page or via the API to launch Tomcat on CentOS. Launching a droplet with this script and then creating a snapshot of the newly created droplet would provide you with a re-usable OS image of CentOS with Tomcat pre-installed.
API for creating run time instances
We offer a robust API that implements the same features found in the control panel. We also have an official command line client that can be used to quickly launch and manage your services.
RDS (Mysql).
We do not currently offer DBaaS but you can absolutely run your own MySQL server or cluster using droplets.
IAM for roles & permissions
Currently we offer team accounts which offers billing, owner and member account types.
standrad monitoring & notification
Monitoring is a big focus for our team at this time and we do have a service currently in a limited BETA test but do not yet have general availability of a monitoring service.
email service
As with DBaaS we do not offer a turn-key email service option but we do offer tutorials on setting up Email services with droplets.
