I have a single site running a single web server using Nginx. I want to use https for my site, using Let’s Encrypt. I went through the How to “How to Set Up Let’s Encrypt Certificates” found here. (https://www.digitalocean.com/docs/networking/load-balancers/how-to/lets-encrypt/). My question is do I need a Load Balancer? Is there a How to on setting up Nginx (on FreeBSD) to be https?

I don’t believe you would need a load balancer based on the environment you have described. There is a tutorial by Mark Drake that is probably better suited to what you are trying to achieve, the link can be found below.
Happy encrypting.
