Do I need to upgrade anything in one-click installation

I have successfully created a droplet using Digitalocean’s phpMyAdmin one-click droplet.

But it installs php version 7.2

Also an old Certbot version which I had to upgrade to get it working.

Should I try individually upgradiing any of the php / apache / mysql / phpmyadmin by myself to start working up to date? Or should I just use it as it is, and in a few years create a fresh droplet when Digitalocean upgrades the one-click installation versions ?

By the way the whole reason I’m using one-click install is because I have never installed any of these packages individually before, even on my PC I just use XAMP stacks which gives me the entire environment.

Hi, @hasancanboga

Some of the apps available in the marketplace might come with an older version of a package but it should be still functional.

You can always make changes to your droplet and update any part of the LEMP or LAMP stack if you wish. You can upgrade the PHP version and upgrade cerbot as well. You can also make regular updates to make sure that important patches are installed.

You can do backups before doing changes in case something goes wrong. You can check our tutorials on how to install and secure phpMyAdmin on Ubuntu 18:

In the Prerequisites section of the tutorial you need to complete the LAMP stack tutorial:

Hope that this helps! Regards, Alex
