Yes, I do think WordPress is better. It’s true WordPress’s main function is not a shop while Joomla is but WordPress has a lot of plugins and it’s generally more used than Joomla which makes it easier to use in case something breaks.
Not to mention there are a lot more Developers on WordPress rather than Joomla which I also think it’s a plus. So yes, in my experience WordPress is better and I’ll recommend it.
What I’ll recommend you to check is Magento as well. It’s a really good shop CMS as well.

I’ll always prefer WordPress over Joomla. They’re both not specifically designed for commerce, but WordPress has a bigger community and this will give you access to more plugins for building an e-commerce site, more information and articles/videos on how to achieve this.
You can also check CMSs like Magento that are specifically designed as an eCommerce platform. We also have a one-click install application for both Magento and WordPress.
