Question

"Failed to verify dns domain ownership" error appears when setting up custom subdomain on Spaces CDN

Hello there. I am experiencing a “Failed to verify dns domain ownership” error when setting up a custom subdomain on my Space. I chose a Managed Let’s Encrypt certificate, and according to DigitalOcean and Crtsh, the certificate was successfully issued. Does anybody know how to fix this error?

I fixed the issue by contacting support. In my example, I had a subdomain (like test.example.com) on DigitalOcean DNS and I wanted to register a sub-subdomain (like cdn.test.example.com) as the custom subdomain for my Space. Customer service told me that I would either have to add the root domain (e.g. example.com) to DigitalOcean DNS or use a customer-managed certificate. I ended up using a customer-managed certificate.
