Harboring Hackers

Posted on September 24, 2017

I sent in a ticket email but no help, This is ridiculous. When I was going through a site on chrome it was showing an IP adress logged into my session from “Digital Ocean” First i’ve never even heard of Digital Ocean let alone ever used it. If these are people using your programs to gather information on others and store it on a cloud that is illegal. Digital Ocean you are harboring and providing unethical hackers to use your programs in an illegal way. “DigitalOcean takes the security of your data and our infrastructure very seriously. We are committed to providing an environment that is safe, secure, and available to all of our customers.” Must not be to serious since you won’t reply to many of your emails and don’t even have a customer service phone number.

Can you clarify the following? When I was going through a site on chrome it was showing an IP adress logged into my session from “Digital Ocean”

You’re implying an IP provisioned to Digital Ocean connected to you? Could it be you connected to that IP address by visiting your unmentioned site. There are numerous explanations for either, and neither need be nefarious or ill-intended.

Definitely a problem. Lately, it’s been 2-3 different IPs in DigitalOcean IP space a day.

I’ve resorted to blocking traffic from DigitalOcean for intrusive traffic such as:

  • SMTP scanning
  • website scanning for Wordpress and other framework flaws
  • SQL injection scanning.
