Having problems installing php onto my droplet.

Posted on March 19, 2015

I did go to the tutorials/how-to-install-linux-apache-mysql-php-lamp-stack-on-ubuntuon on how to install the LAMP/Apache…stack of which php is included. However, it look like ubuntu is not included so I can’t install anything. The droplet is public so I don’t know if this is why I am having problems with the install.

When I typed sudo apt-get update in the console window, it generated errors that it failed to fetch http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/raring updates…

Need help please.

In such cases where a person doesn’t have a lot of experience in managing a Droplet on his own or installing software, I’ll recommend using the DigitalOcean MarketPlace.

It’s a place where you can find pre-build droplets containing different technologies that you might need. For this case a LAMP stack is needed:

https://marketplace.digitalocean.com/apps/lamp

It provides a step by step guide on how to begin and how to complete the installation, that’s it.
