Hosting a single site, but I have multiple VPS

Posted on July 28, 2014

Okay so say I have 2 512MB droplet. The **main **droplet is hosting my website, etc. Now, with my 2nd droplet, what are some things I can do to take some load off my main droplet? Are there anything cool to do ? Maybe hosting my files on the 2nd droplet? Are there any tutorials about any of this? Thanks!

Also, if you’re asking why I have 2 droplet instead of making 1 (the 1GB), its because if I make 2 512MB droplet, I get 10GB more storage. 10$ 1GB droplet = 30GB SSD 2x 5$ 512MB droplet = 40GB SSD.

You can migrate your MySQL server to its own droplet: How To Migrate a MySQL Database To A New Server On Ubuntu 14.04.

Round-robin DNS may be useful in this case, allowing you to balance the load between your two droplets.

Alternatively you could keep your MySQL on one droplet, and your other stuff on the other droplet.

I don’t know how it’s done, but i think servermom.org have made an tutorial about it. If you find a solution i’ll be glad to hear about it.
