Curious what backup strategies people here are using.
Are you relying on:
Droplet snapshots
Managed database backups
Offsite backups to Spaces
Something else?
Always interesting to see how others handle recovery planning.

Good question!
For most setups I usually combine a couple of things:
DigitalOcean Backups/Snapshots for the Droplets themselves
Managed database backups if using DigitalOcean Managed Databases
In some cases a simple shell script + cron that pushes database dumps to Spaces or another storage location
For more automated setups, tools like SnapShooter can also be useful since they integrate nicely with DigitalOcean and help manage scheduled backups and retention policies.
Curious to see what others here are using as well!
Heya, @4d49e500a0484b1a84a7f10bed8d22
The main thing is actually testing restores. Backups you’ve never tested aren’t really backups. Every now and then I spin up a throwaway Droplet and try restoring from a Spaces backup just to make sure the process works and I’m not backing up empty files or something dumb.
