How can I cancel a snapshot?

What normally takes less than 3 minutes has been running over 3 hours. I cannot reboot my machine using the On/Off toggle on the DigitalOcean console (it’s disabled), I can’t open a terminal session from the DigitalOcean console (it keeps timing out), I can’t shutdown using a direct SSH session (any commands other than directory traversal timeout).

I’m assuming that if the snapshot wasn’t running the “pending action” that’s preventing me from rebooting using the On/Off toggle wouldn’t be an issue.

The net effect of this is that my server is unavailable and unusable because of a runaway Apache process that I cannot kill by any means available to me.

Also, I logged a support ticket about 3 hours ago. No response yet.


Just checked and there doesn’t seem to be a way to cancel it on the customer level so your best bet is to wait for support to respond.

This may take more than an hour, depending on how much content is on your Droplet and how large the disk is. 

Well, mine’s running for the past 20 minutes and the disk space is just 25 GB.

After a bit of googling it seems that snapshots usually take a while especially @ peak times.

Update: Execution time: 21 minutes 41 seconds Size: 4.5 GB

Maybe this helps you to figure out how much time it should take based on your used space/disk space.

Over 4 hours now and no response from support.
