How can I remove all data in my droplet?

Posted on March 14, 2015

Hello, I have a droplet with Ubuntu 14 installed (it’s a clean installation, no One-click mage) I installed apache, mysql and php on it, configured the firewall and all the initial configurations in the droplet, But now I want to “format” the droplet, return my Ubuntu installation to it’s original state, How can I achieve that?

I have the same question. I don’t want to destroy and get a new IP address when I create a new droplet. Is there a way to keep the old IP or just erase the current instance?

Well, you could do a bunch of apt-get remove’s, but you could also just destroy the droplet, and start a new one. I would do the last ;-)

The beauty of DigitalOcean is that you can just “destroy” it and create a new droplet with Ubuntu and you’re back to a fresh install in about a minute.
