How can I resize a droplet without losing data and configuration

I want to resize a droplet running Ubuntu 16.04 LTS

In this droplet I have an Odoo server running. What should I keep in mind if I want everything in this server to be as it is now when the droplet has been resized?

How does the resize process work? Are data and configuration lost and I have to restore them from a snapshot?

The best thing would be a fast resize and recovery process, so that Odoo users are not affected. How long can this process take?

Hello.

In case you are upgrading your Droplet, there should be no configuration changes lost as this would essentially mean that you are only adding extra resources to the Droplet.

The downtime from resizing varies depending on how much disk is in use. This is true even when only resizing CPU and RAM only because the Droplet may move to a new hypervisor, which transfers disk data over the network.
