How can I solve disconnected problem of my droplet?

Posted on October 10, 2019

Several days ago, I received email from digital ocean support. “We are writing to let you know that your Droplet ubuntu-Realtourhub at 134.209.8.52 has been disconnected from the network after it contributed 242.3 Mbps to a 16.9 Gbps Distributed Denial of Service attack. The network traffic from your Droplet matches a pattern of malicious traffic originating from other Droplets targeted at a specific victim. We understand how disruptive this may be to your work; however, it was critical for us to disconnect your Droplet to reduce further harm.” And there were 3 paths to solve solution.

So after that, I recover and rebuilt my droplet. But my droplet have been disconnected yet. I’m really in hurry. I sent email to digital ocean support. But yet there is no solution and reply. Please help me kindly. How can I use network of my droplet?

Thanks. Best Regards.

Hi @itcore0316,

It seems likes your droplet was being DDoSed which have generated a huge traffic.

In this case, I’ll recommend you to recover and rebuilt your droplet so you are at the base position. From there, you start to monitor your connections on various ports like 80,443,993,587,3306.

Additionally, I’ll recommend you to check your website and see if it has any malicious content or vulnerabilities bots might exploit.

Hi, Kalin. Thank you very much for your kind replying.

  1. How and where can I monitor my connections? However now I can’t connect to droplet except using “launch console” on digital ocean, and also in my droplet, I can’t connect outside. So I think in this case monitoring means not. Please let me know if I’right and wrong.
  2. My website has no malicious content. It’s very simple and basic site. I can make sure about that.

Thank you again and I’m looking forward to your kind replying and teaching.

Best Regards.
