How Can I Tell How Much Internet Traffic I've Used?

Posted on March 3, 2015

How can I tell how much Internet traffic I’ve used so I can make sure I’m not going over my limit.

Also, is traffic calculated by adding traffic in and and out?

Both inbound and outbound traffic apply towards the limits on your account. We are not yet providing bandwidth statistics in the control panel. Until these are made available we are also not charging for bandwidth used in excess of your plan limits. When this changes we will email out a notification to allow for time to make any needed changes.

You can use something like vnstat for very accurate accounting of network transfer.

All of what I’ve ever read from DigitalOcean (company and staff) suggests that by the time they implement network transfer overage and charges, that they will also provide an interface to query those statistics.
