I just could not find a place where it shows how many gigabytes of transfer I have used for my server.

Hi,
As far as I know from previous questions on this forum, the graph there in control panel shows the data transfer rate but not the volume.
For volume bases usage, you may need to install a tool called vnstat or such in your server OS and then use that tool to monitor the volume of data usage.
At present, as far as I know, DO doesn’t charge extra for data transfer. Which they claim to start on later date with prior notification of course and by that time, the control panel is suppose to show the volume as well.
Thanks.
