How do I know I've set up CNAME validation for an SSL cert from name.com correctly?

Posted on May 16, 2015

I bought a SSL cert from name.com. I have begun setting it up. I am stuck at the point of CNAME validation. name.com gives me two records to add, a CNAME and an A record. But the terminology diverges from DO DNS terminology so I am not sure if I entered things correctly.

Type Host Answer TTL CNAME string.mydomain.com anotherstring.mydomain.com 300 A numbers.mydomain.com 127.0.0.1 300

The DO DNS panel doesn’t use “Host” or “Answer” like this. And having entered the info in the order they appear above in the boxes as they appear in the DO DNS panel, the name.com validation notice says it is still waiting to confirm. After 24 hours.

Is there something I am missing, or will this not work? For what its worth, there is already a CNAME record for Zohomail… could this be interfering somehow?

Thank you.
