Hi there,
newbie messing up with OVH Domain name and Digital Ocean VPS:
I’m reading guides and tutorials but I can’t find the best way to have my domain on OVH pointing at my Droplet on Digital Ocean (eg. what DNS to use OVH or DO, how to set ipv4 etc.)
Since I’m not having a clear answer from them I want to ask, in case someone already went through the process.
thanks

Hi Bobby,
thank you for your kind and precise answer. I did follow all the steps and I’m waiting for the changes to propagate, hopefully everything will go smooth.
Just a small question: How do I have to change “DNS Zone” in OVH? Currently it is set like this officinecartografiche.net to 142.93.169.60 and if I delete the entry, OVH warns me it will delete the domain
Thanks
Hello,
What I could suggest is to first add your domain name to your DigitalOcean account, here’s a step by step guide on how to do that:
https://www.digitalocean.com/docs/networking/dns/how-to/add-domains/
https://docs.ovh.com/gb/en/domains/web_hosting_general_information_about_dns_servers/
ns1.digitalocean.com
ns2.digitalocean.com
ns3.digitalocean.com
https://www.digitalocean.com/docs/networking/dns/how-to/manage-records/
In order to point your domain to your droplet, you need to set your A record to point to your droplet’s IP address.
Note that it could take up to 48 hours for the DNS cache to clear over the globe before you could see your new DNS settings.
Hope that this helps! Regards, Bobby
Hello, do you have any news on this topic, I also have problems with connecting a domain hosted by ovh.com (lynelaforme.com) and digital ocean. It worked till now fine but for a few days, I get a 404 error.
I never worked with ovh and I am not sure about it.
thanks
