Question

How do I set up server-side custom IMAP mail filters/rules?

Posted February 21, 2014 6.7k views
I am upgrading from a shared hosting setup with cPanel to DO. cPanel allows me to setup account-level and user-level filters with IMAP accounts. For instance: 1. forwarded email from something@domain.com can be set to be delivered to IMAP folder "something" on address main@domain.com 2. subject lines containing "x" can be set to be delivered to imap folder "x" How would I accomplish this either with a feature on any of the free admin panels like vesta or even SSH? Thanks

  • Hi, did you figure this out? I am looking for solution for a while, but no luck so far. Essentially I need to:

    • specify rules based on sender e-mail address (wildcart support needed)
    • specify rules based on subject of e-mail (wildcard support needed)

What are you using for mail on your server, postfix? Or have you gotten that far? We've got an article that should point you in the right direction to set up postfix:

It also covers forwarded email to an "alias." Let us know how it goes!

Postfix is a free, open source Mail Transfer Agent which works to route and deliver email. Here we'll help you install and setup Postfix on an Ubuntu 12.04 VPS.
