Hey there 👋
If you’re getting that error, it’s likely the pgvector
package isn’t available for your OS or PostgreSQL version via the package manager.
You can always build it from source:
git clone https://github.com/pgvector/pgvector.git
cd pgvector
make
sudo make install
Then in psql
:
CREATE EXTENSION vector;
What OS are you running?

You’ll need to built it from source I think
git clone https://github.com/pgvector/pgvector.git
cd pgvector
make
sudo make install
If everything compiles without errors, this installs pgvector
to your PostgreSQL extensions directory.
Now connect to your database using psql
and run
CREATE EXTENSION vector;
that will enable thje extension for you.
