I have a service provider that is preparing to perform an automated security scan of my application hosted on Digital Ocean. They’re claiming they also need permission from Digital Ocean to do the complete scan since they’ll be testing for vulnerabilities that aren’t directly related to my application but OS level things as well.
Is such permission required? If so, what is proper way to request it?

Hey! As you have full root access to your droplets the OS level stuff is also within your control. Running security scans against your own droplets (or having a third party do them for you) is perfectly allowed as long as the tests and scans do not include any DoS/DDoS simulations or other tests that may generate a large amount of bandwidth use as these types of processes may cause issues for other users whose droplets are on the same physical hypervisor node. You should be able to point your service provider to this response for their purposes. Otherwise, you can email me at ryan@ or contact our support team via the control panel or at support@.
