How to Install Anydesk for Remote Connection with GUI

Posted on July 5, 2019

Hello I want to connect to my droplet (Ubuntu 18.04 x64) with this program called Anydesk. It’s a lot like TeamViewer. It allows me to manage my server with a GUI instead of the terminal. So I connected to my droplet using Putty and installed the package, but when I try to connect to it it says the Anydesk windows must be open. I thought maybe when I get a droplet, you install Ubuntu to it but not the desktop environment? As far as I know Ubuntu 18.04 has Gnome Shell as the DE. How can I make this possible?

You can achieve this by using VNC. You can follow this article on DigitalOcean - https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-install-and-configure-vnc-on-ubuntu-18-04

The process is very well documented, but if you have any questions, feel free to ask.
