How to install wildcard SSL certificate on OpenLiteSpeed and Wordpress by DigitalOcean

I’ve successfully installed OpenLiteSpeed/Wordpress droplet and everything seems to be working perfectly.

However I’ve switched to multisite, but SSL is valid only for the domain and NOT subdomains.

I’ve tried to execute: certbot certonly --webroot -w /var/www/html/ -d * -d

The result is: Client with the currently selected authenticator does not support any combination of challenges that will satisfy the CA. You may need to use an authenticator plugin that can do challenges over DNS.

My nameservers are not pointed to DO yet, but that should not be a problem, since all records are pointing to DO server.

Any ideas?

Basically you can not simply get the wild card with * in command , it requires DNS verification , it does not matter where is your DNS nameserver, but you need to manually create these DNS record per its request.

during the process, you will see something like this in your screen

Please deploy a DNS TXT record under the name with the following value:

and you need to create this entry in your DNS record in order for it to verify.
