How to migrate node express website to ubuntu droplet and deploy with git.

Posted on July 23, 2016

I can’t seem to find the resources on how to migrate an express website that is currently working on my localhost to a digitalocean droplet. I don’t have a firm grasp on what extra is needed on the remote server or how to get the webserver running. I’ve searched through many tutorials but somehow they don’t seem to have the answer to something that seems basic but I’m guessing is fairly complicated.

Not necessarily complicated. The MEAN one-click may save you some time: (MEAN = MongoDB, Express, Angular, Node.js) DigitalOcean provides the MEAN stack pre-configured on an Ubuntu server.

Take a read through this tutorial: https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-use-the-mean-one-click-install-image

Especially relevant to your needs is the deploying your own section.

If you would prefer to start from scratch, there’s also the How to install Mean on Ubuntu 14.04 tutorial.

Does that help?
