How to purchase SSL

Posted on December 23, 2019

I am not tech savy and cannot go through the hoops of adding an SSL on the back end. Can I please just purchase it through DigitalOcean and have the company implement the certificate on the site?

Hi @EmeraldMediaGroup,

Unfortunately, DigitalOcean can’t add the SSL for you however, there are a few articles on how to do it from your end. Can you let me know the droplet you are using so that I can provide you with relevant steps, is it an Centos or Ubuntu one, are you using Nginx or Apache?

As soon as I have the above information I can either provide you with a tutorial or with steps how to do it from your end. No need to worry, it’s really straight forward!

Regards, KDSys

I switched to DigitalOcean 7 months ago. After logging on to the site this morning, I keep getting the SSl error message. So, I went back to GoDaddy and purchased the SSL. Now my site has been restored, but its as it was 7 months ago (before I switched to Digital Ocean). So I returned the SSL. Now it’s back to the error.

How can I get my site restored to the way it was a few days ago?

Prepare by getting your server set up and getting your WHOIS record updated (it needs to show the correct company name and address), etc. Generate the CSR on the server. Submit the CSR and other info to the Certificate Authority. Have your domain and company validated. Receive and install the issued certificate.
