How to reboot droplet through the command line / restart apache server

Posted on September 22, 2014

I tried increasing php.ini upload file size. No effect after entering the commands (I found them here: https://www.digitalocean.com/community/questions/increase-max-file-upload-size-in-wordpress-using-ubuntu-12-04-lemp-stack). Do I have to restart the server? Please help.

Hello, all

In order to reboot the droplet using the command line you can use these two options:

sudo reboot

and

sudo shutdown -r now

They basically do the exact same thing so using any of them will complete the task.

Generally speaking the shutdown command is more preferable because you have the option to specify the reason for the system reboot, e.g a maintenance. Additional feature is that you can schedule when the system needs to be powered down.

sudo shutdown -r now 'System maintenance'

Hope that this helps!
