You can reset you root password from your Control panel in the access tab Resetting root password. You will recieve an email from DO containing your root password.
If you have disabled root login from SSH you need to use DO Droplet console.
Yes, it will affect(just for a minute) if you have only one server because resetting root password requires a reboot. You should use SSH public-key authentication for more security instead of passwords.
